Metropolitan Museum of Art Prepares

A graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, Seton Melvin serves Mount Sinai Hospital as the director of its brain donor program. With a deep interest in the arts, Seton Melvin is a member of the directors’ group of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met).

On April 13, 2020, the Met will celebrate its 150th anniversary. The celebration will feature gifts of art from around the globe, displays and exhibitions of art, and engaging and dynamic programs for the local and global Met communities. The highlight of the occasion is an exhibit called “Making the Met, 1870-2020.”

Making the Met will be open March 20 through August 2. The exhibition will take guests on a time-traveling tour through the rich history of the Met and will also show the museum’s transformation as its ambitions, collections, and buildings evolved through time.

The visionary figures and cultural forces that guided the Met since its founding will also be featured in the exhibit. Moreover, Making the Met will feature 250 artworks that represent every type of Met collection.
